Yes, DivX is safe to install on your PC or Mac!

For many years, the free version of DivX Software included third-party offers (advertisements) that some anti-virus software programs would detect an issue in what is called a "false positive". Please rest assured that there are never any viruses when you download DivX Software from divx.com. The third-party software offers we included in the installer—which some users found useful and were always able to decline—helped us provide a free version of the DivX Software. To improve the overall user experience, we discontinued including these offers in the installer.

If you continue to see any issues with your anti-virus flagging DivX Software, in most cases this can be fixed by making sure your anti-virus software is up-to-date.
