I have the free DivX software, with the auto updater. I have had this software for years, and it has always updated new versions without issue. Lately when an update version pops up and I select to update it, I get an error msg: "the procedure entry point gettickcount64 could not be located in the dynamic link library kernel32.dll". I select "OK" to remove the msg, but the update does not take, and a day or so later, the same auto update notification pops back up again. This same issue keep[s happening, with the same error msg.
I am still using WinXP on this old machine. I checked here, and saw the link to re-install the standalone installer, which re-installed all the software (player, converter, etc.) on my PC. When I selected the check for updates from there, it stated there was 1 program that needed updating (it didn't specify), and when I selected to update that, I got a new error msg dialog box: DivX Setup - The DviX installer has been blocked from connecting to the internet due to proxy, network, or security settings. Please download the offline installer here to try again. When selecting "here", it took me to this website. I think I have already downloaded the offline installer.
Please help, and thanks in advance!
